Mentors in our Site-Based Mentoring program are provided ongoing professional training and support from our staff to ensure an enjoyable relationship for both the child and the volunteer. This program is a good match for volunteers who are looking for a supervised mentoring environment.
Who can be a Site-Based Mentor?
Site-based mentors can be anyone from freshmen in high school on up (including adults), who are looking to build a solid friendship with a child. Volunteers in this program come from many different backgrounds and have diverse interests.How often do matches meet?
Site-based matches meet consistently for an hour-and-a-half a week, at a specified time, typically only during the school year.What do we do together?
The possibilities are endless, but for starters you could:Help with Homework • Read a Book • Talk to Each Other • Do Word Searches • Play Games • Help with a Science Fair Project • Visit the School Library • Work on the Computer • Journal Practice Math Facts • Draw • Play Kickball • Shoot Hoops • Write a Story • Design a Web Page • Illustrate a Story • Have Fun
